Albert Mack Hedke

AURORA, Colo. -- Albert Mack Hedke, 64, died Saturday (March 30, 2002) at the Aurora Hospice Care Center in Aurora, Colo., following a battle with lung cancer.

He was born Dec. 19, 1937, to Floyd and Wauneta (Preecs) Hedke in McCook. He lived his early childhood on a farm south of Trenton. He attended school at District No. 14 and District No. 16. To finish his schooling, he attended the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture at Curtis from 1952-53, where he graduated in his senior year. He then attended one semester at the Union College in Lincoln.

On Nov. 1, 1956, he entered the U. S. Air Force. He attended Jet Mechanic school at Amarillo, Texas. He was stationed at Mountain Home, Idaho until 1959, when he was sent to French Marocco, Africa. In June 1960, he was stationed at Grand Forks, N.D. and spend his remaining service time there until he was honorably discharged in 1961 as Airman Second Class. He then entered computer school in Kansas City, Mo.

On Oct. 4, 1969, he married Frances Irene Miller Bailey in Denver, Colo. He worked in Lincoln and most recently in Denver, where he worked at Blue Cross-Blue Shield as a computer supervisor and in 1979, he began working at Electronics Data Systems where he worked until his retirement in 1999.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his son, Brian of Bennett, Colo.; stepdaughter, Sandra Crump; one brother, Gary Hedke of Cambridge; three sisters, Sharon Kamp of Deposit, N.Y., Gayle Fish of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Floy Graham of Aurora; and two grandchildren.
