LEBANON -- Bernice I. Brown, 84, died Thursday (May 16, 2002) at Sunset Haven Nursing Home in Curtis.

She was born April 30, 2002, to Ray and Eva (Shults) Warren, in Furnas County. She grew up in Lebanon and graduated from Lebanon High School.

On Oct. 7, 1939, Bernice married Warren William Brown and they farmed north of Danbury before moving to Lebanon, where they continued farming until her husband's death in 1984. She moved to Highland Park in McCook in 1997. She had resided at Sunset Haven Nursing Home for the past three years. For many years she cooked at the Beaver Valley High School in Lebanon.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.

Survivors include one daughter, Sandra and husband, Harlow Daffer of Danbury; one son, Charles and wife, Karen Brown of Lebanon; two sisters, LaVonne Walters of Schulyer and Fern and husband, Griff Reiners of McCook; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Services will be Monday, 2 p.m., at Herrmann Memorial Chapel in McCook with Rev. Dr. Jeffery Thurman officiating. Interment will be at the Lebanon Cemetery.

Memorials may be left in her name and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home in McCook.
