IMPERIAL -- Lloyd Marlin Hager, 84, died Monday (May 27, 2002) at his home in Imperial.

He was born Feb. 24, 1918, to Claude C. and Clara Belle (Van Vleet) Hager on a farm outside of Lushton. He attended the Dyke Country School in Hitchock County until the eighth grade.

On Aug. 31, 1940, he married Bonnie Jane Loop in Oberlin. He soon enlisted in the U. S. Navy. He was in the European Theatre during World War II and was discharged in Hitchcock, Texas on Sept. 25, 1945. The couple then moved to Denver, where he learned the trade of meat cutting and processing. He began Hager Square Deal Meets and Processing in 1955, in Trenton. He closed the processing plant in 1972, and worked for Dayco Company in McCook until 1983. The couple moved to Imperial in 1998.

He was a member of the Disabled Veterans Post No. 354188 of McCook, the American Legion Post No. 357 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10561 both of Trenton.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Eldon and an infant brother.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie of Imperial; one daughter, Betty and husband, Gerald Jessee of Benkelman; one sister, Kela Hinkle of Lexington; one brother, Del Hager and friend, Pat of Rio Rancho, N.M.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside inurnment services will be Thursday, 11 a.m., at the Trenton Cemetery at Trenton with Pastor Keith Wellman officiating.

There will be no visitation. Friends may sign the registry book and greet the family today until 7 p.m. (MST) at Liewer Funeral Home in Imperial.

A memorial has been established to the Chase County Hospital Foundation in Imperial.
