Francis L. Sprenkle

HASTINGS -- Francis L. Sprenkle, 73, died Sunday (June 14, 2002) at Bryan LGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.

He was born Feb. 27, 1929, to Benjamin F. and Ruth (Pond) Sprenkle at Spencer. He graduated from high school and attended college for two years. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1948-68.

On Jan. 1, 1953, he married Betty Roeder. They moved to Hastings in 1968. He was a custodian at the Veterans Hospital in Grand Island until his retirement in 1984.

He was a member of the Berean Bible Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; and a brother.

Survivors include two daughters, Pam Poindexter of Hastings and Kathy deRenzy of New Jersey; one son, Dan Sprenkle of Hastings; five sisters, Mary Nelson of Las Vegas, Nev., Leona Johnson of Portland, Ore., Agnes Dack and LaVern Blume of McCook and Anna Brown of Indianola; two brothers Richard Sprenkle of Phoenix, Ariz. and Paul Sprenkle of McCook; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, 10 a.m., at Butler-Volland Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Bumgardner and the Rev. Steve Hodgson officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings.

Memorials may be given in his name.
