Dale Doren Walker

LUDELL -- Dale Doren Walker, 86, died Tuesday (Aug. 27, 2002) at the Good Samaritan Center in Atwood.

He was born Feb. 16, 1916, to Charles and Mary (Beeby) Walker on a farm in the Union Township of Rawlins County. He attended Pleasant View School in Union Township and graduated from Atwood Community High School in 1935. After graduation, he started farming.

In 1937, he married Verda VanVleet in Norton, Kan.

Survivors include his son, Charles and wife, Wilda; three daughters, Rebecca and husband, Shawn Morrisey, Lisa and husband, Steve Shepard and Stacey and husband, Chet Cole; one son-in-law, Lyal McCormack, Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Aleen VanVleet and Berniece VanVleet; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Atwood with the Rev. Terry McGuire and the Rev. Keith Reuther officiating. Interment will be in the Atwood Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation will be until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Good Samaritan Center or the Obert Senior Center in Atwood.
