CAMBRIDGE -- Darlene Doris Leis, 75, died Thursday (Sept. 5, 2002) at Cambridge Manor in Cambridge.

She was born June 27, 1927, to John and Esther (Schafer) Leis in Scottsbluff. When she was young, the family moved to McCook. She graduated from McCook High School in 1946. She attended McCook College and took business courses. Her family moved to Longmont, Colo., where she was the owner of Darlene's Togs and Toys, a childrens store, for over 20 years.

After retirement, she lived in Longmont until she moved to Cambridge Manor to be close to her cousin, Lila Johnson of McCook.

She was a member of Christ Congregation Church in Longmont. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Wallace Leis.

Survivors include her cousin, Lila and her husband, Richard Johnson of McCook and many other cousins and friends.

Services will be Monday, 1 p.m. (MST), at Mountain View Cemetery in Longmont, Colo., with Pastor Ed Zimmerman officiating.

Visitation is today, 6-8 p.m., Saturday, 12-6 p.m., and Sunday, 5-7 p.m., at the funeral home and at the cemetery prior to the services.

Memorials may be left in her name to the Parkinson's foundation.
