Florence J. Hedges

Florence J. Hedges, 82, died Monday (Oct. 14, 2002) at Community Hospital of McCook.

She was born May 2, 1920, at North Loup to Thomas John and Ethel Mae (Clement) Hamer. She graduated from North Loup High School in 1937. She graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1942. She began teaching at Sargent.

On Feb. 6, 1944, she married Robert F. Hedges at Corpus Christie, Texas. They moved to Indianola in 1945, where she continued teaching until her retirement in 1966. They moved to McCook in 1998.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lewis Hamer; and four sisters, Winnie Williams, Marge Church, Muriel Portis and Evelyn Evans.

Survivors include her husband, Robert of McCook; one daughter, Nancy Jean and husband, Marty Sevier of Portland, Ore.; two sons, Robert D. Hedges and wife, Chris of Fulson, Calif., and Jerry A. Hedges and wife, Nora of Denver, Colo.; one brother, John Hamer of Hastings; one sister, Louise Kammerlohr of Sun City, Fla.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services are pending at this time and will be announced by Herrmann Funeral Home of McCook.
