Rev. Frank C. Bobbitt

BEAVER CITY -- The Rev. Frank C. Bobbitt, 73, died Wednesday (Nov. 20, 2002) at his home in Beaver City.

He was born April 18, 1929, at Peru to Ben and Helen (Fletcher) Bobbitt. He grew up in many communities as his father was a minister. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, Iowa in 1947.

On Aug. 26, 1947, he married Alice L. Allen at Des Moines. He served in the Navy Reserves in 1948.

He then attended Drake University in 1948. In 1949, he attended Peru State Teacher's College graduating with a liberal arts degree. In 1957, he attended Missouri School of Religion graduating with two degrees, Bachelor of Divinity and Master of Divinity. They served Christian churches in Missouri, Oklahoma, McCook, Canada and Kansas. They took a sabbatical in Beaver City in 1985. He served Lemoyne and Keystone churches for the Presbyterian Church from 1986 to 1991. He also served Methodist churches in Cambridge, Alma and Republican City. He retired in 1994 and returned to Beaver City. After retirement he served Methodist Churches in Sidney, Geneva and Potter. He returned to Beaver City and served the Hendley and Wilsonville Methodist churches. He again retired due to failing health.

He was a member of the Beaver City Lion's Club where he served as president for one year. He was also a member of the Mason's.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Benny and Harold; one sister, Delores Herridge; two granddaughters; and one grandson.

Survivors include his wife, Alice of Beaver City; two sons, Charles Bobbitt and wife, Janis of Mishawaka, Ind., and Chet Bobbitt of Beaver City; three daughters, Cheryl and husband, Gordon Russel Sr. of Rocky Mount, Mo., Charlene and husband, Doug Goodwin of McCook and Chanda and husband, James Gilbert of Broken Arrow, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Monday, 11:30 a.m., at Mount Hope Cemetery at Beaver City followed by a Memorial Service at 1 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Beaver City with the Rev. Theta Dame and the Rev. Randall Sailors officiating.

Viewing and visitation will be Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 1-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
