Freda Sophia Rebecca Forsberg

CAMBRIDGE -- Freda Sophia Rebecca Forsberg, 93, died Thursday (Nov. 28, 2002) at the Cambridge Manor.

She was born Nov. 30, 1908, to John and Lena Hermann on a farm near Avoca. She was raised in a German community. She graduated from the eighth grade at age 12. She graduated from the Black School of Cosmetology in Lincoln in 1935. She worked for a short period of time at the Hollywood Beauty Shop in Lincoln. She then moved to Herman and worked for Lorraine Eriksen until she was able to open her own shop.

On Nov. 9, 1936, she married John C. Forsberg at Trinity Lutheran Church in Omaha. They lived in Herman their entire married life with the exception of a few months when they lived in Arlington. After her husband died in 1973, she traveled to Florida to spend the winters with her daughter. She was a beautician her entire life, retiring in 1978 at the age of 70. She moved to the Cambridge Manor in April 2002.

She was a member of the the North Branch Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Community Church of Herman and a Pinochle Card Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; two brothers, Harold and William; and three sisters, Meta Rohlfs, Anna Knickman and Alvina Potter.

Survivors include two daughters, Jacci and husband, Dr. Ron Morgan of Cambridge and Patricia Ann and husband, David Stringer of Thomasville, Ga.; one son, Friend John "Butch" Forsberg and wife, Bev of Lyons; one sister, Sylvia Emmons of Omaha; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were today at the Community Church in Herman. Burial was at the Herman Cemetery at Herman. Memorials may be given in her name to the Tri-Valley Health Foundation at Cambridge.
