Rose E. (Sis) Ruda

ATWOOD -- Rose E. (Sis) Ruda, 89, died Monday (Dec. 23, 2002) at Dodge City, Kan.

She was born Dec. 3, 1913, to Frank and Apolena (Dobry) Sis in Rawlins County. She attended Prairie View rural school and Atwood High School.

On Aug. 1, 1934, she married John E. Ruda at St. John's Catholic Church in rural Atwood. She was a homemaker.

She was a previous member of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church and presently a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood. She was also a member of the Christian Mothers Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; and brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her three sons, Jack and Tom of Atwood, Richard Ruda and wife, Mary of Lima, Ohio; two daughters, Terri and husband, Lloyd Johnson of Kadika, S.D., and Rosie and husband, Tom Klenke of Spearville, Kan.; sister, Julia and husband, Ralph Vandiver of Lincoln; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, 10 a.m., at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood with the Rev. Damian Richards as celebrant. Interment will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery at Atwood.

A parish vigil and Christian Mother rosary will be recited Sunday, 7 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home in Atwood.

Visitation is today and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Rawlins County Historical Church or to the Mount Calvary Cemetery both of Atwood.
