Lonny G. Klinkebiel

HOLBROOK -- Lonny G. Klinkebiel, 43, died Monday (Jan. 13, 2003) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

He was born May 25, 1959, in Cambridge to Paul and Marilyn (Jackson) Klinkebiel. He attended and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1977. He went on to attain a degree from Great Plains Community College in North Platte in automotive mechanics.

On July 11, 1981, he married Roxie Bennett of North Platte. The couple began farming north of Cambridge. The family moved to a farm south of Holbrook in 1988.

He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Cambridge where he served on the Church Board and was currently a trustee, the adult Sunday School teacher and was active with AWANA's. He was active with Habitat for Humanity. He belonged to the Arapahoe, Holbrook, Edison (HEA) Fire Department and was an EMT and fireman. He was an American Red Cross CPR instructor for the Southwest Nebraska Chapter of the American Red Cross of Holbrook. He was a license pilot and belonged to the Experimental Aircraft Association. He was also a weather spotter during severe weather alerts. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeff; and grandparents, Don and Ella Jackson and Dietrich and Alvena Klinkebiel.

Survivors include his wife, Roxie; two sons, Drew and Cole and daughter, Julia of Holbrook; his parents, Paul and Marilyn Klinkebiel of Cambridge; one brother, Kyle of Cambridge; and one sister, Sherri and husband, Brad Edgerton of Cambridge.

Funeral services will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at the Calvary Baptist Church in Cambridge with the Rev. Tim Burke officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge.

There will be no public viewing, but friends may sign the family register at the mortuary.

Memorials may be given in his name.
