Irma 'Kayee' Thomason

DENVER, Colo. -- Irma "Kayee" Thomason, 80, of Denver, formerly of McCook, died Jan. 6, 2003, in Denver.

She was born Sept. 28, 1922, in Denver, to Sallie O. (Wierman) and Arthur H. Scaggs Sr. She married Emmett Thomason Jr.; they later divorced.

She graduated from South High School in Denver in 1940, and lived in Boulder, Colo., from 1940 until 1941, while attending the University of Colorado.

She was a hat designer in Pennsylvania in the 1940's. She work in accounting at the Air Force Finance Center in Denver in the 1950's and owned and operated a gift store in the Kentucky Plaza in Denver in the 1960's.

After retiring, she pursued her hobby of oil painting, selling many paintings in Denver, Omaha and McCook. She lived in McCook in the middle 1990's.

Preceding her in death were two brothers, Arthur Scaggs Jr. of Denver and Charles Scaggs of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and one sister, Frances Nilsson of Omaha and McCook.

Survivors include one sister, Sallie Johnson of Edwards, Colo.; four nieces, Jackie Scaggs and Vicki Scaggs of Broomfield, Colo., Barbara Lewellen of Longmont, Colo., and Annette Nilsson Irwin of Omaha; and one nephew, Eric Nilsson of Omaha.

Graveside services were at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Colo.
