Evelyn A. Perrill

LOGAN, Kan. -- Evelyn A. Perrill, 84, died Friday (March 21, 2003) at the Logan Manor in Logan, Kan.

She was born Feb. 20, 1919, in the Devizes Community in Norton County, Kan., to C. Leslie and Viva B. (Thompson) Mathes. She graduated from Norton Community High School. She lived in Pasadena, Calif., for a time before moving back to Norton.

In 1942, she married Joe Smolen in Los Angeles, Calif.

In 1948, she married Elmer Perrill at McCook. She was a telephone operator.

She was a member of the Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Order of Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Dwight F. Mathes.

Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Scally of Lawrence, Kan., and Patti Long of Norton; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services were today, 10:30 a.m., at the Norton Cemetery at Norton, Kan., with the Rev. Charles Ross officiating.

Memorials may be given in her name.
