Laura Maxine Price

CAMBRIDGE -- Laura Maxine Price, 82, died Friday (May 23, 2003) at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Cambridge.

She was born Oct. 19, 1920, in rural Lincoln County, to Louie and Agnes (Frimel) Broeder. She graduated from O'Fallons High School in 1937. She graduated from West Nebraska Methodist School of Nursing in 1942.

On Nov. 19, 1942, she married William Glenn Price in North Platte. She worked in North Platte, San Luis Obispo, Calif., Dothan, Ala., Sutherland, McCook and Cambridge throughout her life. She was the first school nurse for Medicine Valley Schools.

She was a member of the Tri Valley Health System Quarter Century Club, Tri Valley Medical Foundation Board, First Congregational Church of Christ, Rebekkah Lodge, American Legion Auxillary, Veterans of Foreign Wars, 8&40 where she served as the Departmental Chapeau in 1975. She received the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Diana Award in 1991; a special merit award in 1981 from the American Cancer Society Nebraska Division; and the Volunteer Hall of Fame Award 1989. She served as president of the hospital auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Glenn Price Sr. in January of 1980; and son, William Glenn Price Jr. in November of 1973.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra of Lexington; son, Jim of Cambridge; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, 10 a.m., at the First Congregational Church of Christ in Cambridge with Dana Keener officiating. Burial will be at the Stockville Cemetery at Stockville.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Cambridge First Congregational Church of Christ.
