Larry Vrbas

Lawrence "Larry" Vrbas, 52, died Tuesday (July 29, 2003) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

He was born Aug. 2, 1950, to Charles and Mary (Keeney) Vrbas in Atwood. He grew up in Trenton, until the family moved to Palisade. He graduated from Palisade High School in 1968.

He entered the Navy and served during the Vietnam war.

On June 26, 1972, he married Susan Hastings of McCook. The couple made their home in McCook. He was employed at Nebraska Public Power until his death.

He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, the American Legion of Palisade, the McCook Elks Lodge No. 1434 and the Eagles Club in McCook. He was also active with Pheasants Forever.

His survivors include his wife, Susan Vrbas of McCook; one son, Ryan Vrbas of McCook; two daughters, Staci and husband, Jason Meyers and Katie Vrbas, all of McCook; four brothers, Thomas Vrbas and wife, Ellen, of Oak Harbor, Wash., Dennis Vrbas and wife, Tina of Benkelman, Bryan Vrbas and wife, Julie of Palisade and Gayle Vrbas and wife, Kathy of Imperial; two sisters, Jeannie Kressin and husband, Chris of Palisade and Tammy Vincent and husband, Paul of Long Island, Kan.; his parents, Charles and Mary Vrbas; and one grandchild.

Services are Friday, 10:30 a.m., at the Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with the Rev. Dr. Jeffery Thurman officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
