Delbert E. 'Shine' Riepe

OXFORD -- Delbert E. "Shine" Riepe of Oxford, 65, died Sunday (Aug. 3, 2003) at Veteran's Administration Hospital in Omaha.

He was born July 12, 1938, to Harry and Ella M. (Fletcher) Riepe in Arapahoe. He grew up in Arapahoe and attended school there.

After school, he served in the U.S. Army from October 1961-October 1963 as a mechanic.

He moved back to Arapahoe and worked at various jobs in the area including gravel pump operator for Riepe Gravel Co., truck driver and farmer.

He was preceded in death by his father and sister, Coleen Yeager.

Survivors include his mother, Ella M. Riepe of Arapahoe; two sons, Danny Meyer of Gothenburg and Daniel Riepe of Vernal, Utah; one daughter, Pam and husband, Dan Pullus of Vernal; two brothers, Wayne and wife, Brenda Riepe of Palmdale, Calif., and James and Karin Riepe of Englewood, Colo.; three sisters, Edith Hinz of Arapahoe, Dorothy and husband, Norman Huxoll of Holbrook and Della Mae and husband, Leroy VonLoh of Arapahoe; and four grandchildren.

Services are Thursday, 2 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe with the Rev. Carl Lilienkamp officiating. Interment will be at Arapahoe Cemetery in Arapahoe with military rites given by the Edison American Legion of Edison.

Visitation is Wednesday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., and Thursday, 9 a.m.- 2 p.m., at the funeral home.
