Rose Mary Stritt

Rose Mary Stritt, 41, of Oberlin, died Friday (August 15, 2003) at Bryan LGH Medical Center West in Lincoln as a result of a motorcycle accident. She was born on Oct. 5, 1961, to Donald Ray and Charlotte Rose (Sayer) Myers at St. Francis, Kan. She attended school at Benkelman and then Wauneta graduating in 1980. She graduated from Midland Lutheran College in 1984. On May 19, 1984, she married Gerald "Jerry" E. Stritt at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Indianola. To this union three children were born.

She loved spending time with family. She also enjoyed scrapbooking, baking and was a professional seamstress. She made many treasurers for her family and friends. She shared her love with many children through her Buttons & Bow's Daycare. She received the 2001 Smart Start Award of Excellence for early childhood professionals.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the GWTA Chapter V Republican River Riders. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Charles Simon Sayer and Rose (Singley) Sayer Lindsey and paternal grandparents, Arch D. Myers and Pauline Freda (Pfister) Myers.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry of Oberlin; a son Jerred Michael Stritt; two daughters, Jessica Rose and Rachel Marie Stritt, all of Oberlin; her parents, Don and Charlotte Myers of Hamlet; mother-in-law, Mary Ann Stritt of Indianola; two brothers, Charles Myers and wife Kathy of Peyton, Colo., and Virgil Myers and wife, Joanie of Tribune, Kan.; two brothers-in-law, Pat Stritt and wife Ivy of Bartley and Dale Stritt of Indianola; five sisters-in-law, Joan Quelle of York, Janice Bamesberger and husband, Phil of Indianola, Donna Kraszewski and husband Ted of Torrence, Calif., Mary Ogorzolka and husband Lloyd of Indianola and Gloria Kohl and husband Barry of McCook; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook with Father Gary Brethour and Father Donald Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in the Oberlin Cemetery in Oberlin, Kan.

The rosary will be Monday at 7 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Funeral Chapel in McCook.

In lieu of flowers a scholarship fund for her children has been established.
