Couple confirms vows in candlelit ceremony

Lyndsi Renee (Reynolds) Smith and John Christopher Smith confirmed their wedding vows in a candlelit ceremony March 8, 2003, at McCook Assembly of God Church. Offering prayers were Stan Reynolds, grandfather of the bride, and Rev. Charles Hooton, pastor of the McCook First Assembly of God Church. The couple was married in a military setting Dec. 30, 2002, in Oklahoma.

Parents of the couple are Lyn and Marcia Reynolds of Oberlin and John and JoAnne Smith of West Bridgewater, Mass.

Grandparents of the couple are Stan and Jeannine Reynolds, Louise Coburn of McCook and Ollive Smith of Brockton, Mass. An honored guest was great-grandmother LeeOra Mockry of Oberlin.

The bride wore a satin A-line, empire-waist gown with beaded lace adorning the entire gown. The chapel-length train was trimmed with lace and pearls. She wore a tulle veil that was sprinkled with pearls. She carried a bouquet of red and white roses, white satin lilies, pearls and baby's breath. The bridegroom wore his U.S. Navy dress blue uniform.

Amber Reynolds of Oberlin, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Natausha Frecks of Lee's Summit, Mo., was the bridesmaid. They each wore a red floor-length satin dress with a shimmering bodice. They each carried a bouquet of red and white roses, pearls and baby's breath. Elisabeth Orr of Oberlin served as the personal attendant.

Grant Reynolds of Manhattan, brother of the bride, served as the best man. Derick Lorentz of McCook was the bridegroomsman. They each wore a black suit with variegated red ties.

Amber Reynolds and Grant Reynolds were the candlelighters for the ceremony. The heart-shaped candelabras were designed by the bride's father.

Vocalists for the ceremony were the bride and groom, Amber Reynolds and Grant Reynolds. Pianists for the ceremony were Amber Reynolds and Diana Gull of McCook.

Mary Lorentz of McCook was the wedding coordinator and designer of all the flowers for the ceremony. Pam and Gary Frecks of Cambridge were the reception coordinators and Pam designed the wedding cake. Jeffery Lorentz of McCook, served as the gift attendant and Elisabeth Orr was the guest book attendant. Servers were Ginnie Bolles of McCook, Jeannette Reynolds of Loomis and Sharon Mockry of Oberlin, all great-aunts of the bride.

The couple honeymooned in Hawaii.

The bride is a 1998 graduate of Oberlin High School, a 2000 graduate of Colby Community College and is currently employed as a registered dental hygienist for a periodontist in Manhattan.

The bridegroom is a 1997 graduate of West Bridgewater Junior/Senior High School and is on active duty for the Navy, stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
