SUPERIOR, Neb. — Albert Leo Sayer, born on March 23, 1954, in McCook, Neb., was the son of Leo and Betty (Rickett) Sayer. He received his education in his hometown of McCook.

Throughout his career, Albert was employed by Pony Express and C&K. He was widely known and appreciated as a dedicated postman and FedEx driver for many years. Leo was also an entrepreneur, owning and operating Sayer Distributing.

Albert had a passion for collecting and frequently attended swap meets, where he enjoyed meeting new people and expanding his collection of coins. Known for his friendly nature, he was someone who easily connected with others.

He was also an avid history enthusiast, dedicating much time to researching his family’s genealogy.

Albert passed away in Superior, Neb., on May 24, 2026. He was 72 years of age.

Al’s life was marked by his commitment to community, work, and family history, leaving a lasting impression on those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Betty Sayer; step-grandparents, Guy and Nettie Tyson; paternal-grandparents, George and Lydia Sayer; and his brothers, Joe Sayer and James Tyson.

He is survived by his children: Erik (Wynne) Sayer of Pierre, S.D., Chad Sayer of Tucson, Ariz., Weston (Terra) Peitz of Curtis, Neb., Hunter Peitz of North Platte, Neb., Amanda Peitz of Cambridge, Neb., and Danielle Slama of Las Lunas, NM; grandchildren: Hayden Sayer, Maddy Sayer, Zakery Sayer, Jonathan Sayer, Ellie Peitz, Dellah Peitz, Hunter Peitz, Jr., Kennedy Peitz, Mayzee Peitz, Lakelyn Peitz and Brayden Peitz; great-grandchild, Cassian Sayer; siblings: Elizabeth Kastler, Donna Tyson, Ruth Hancock and Lawrence Sayer, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Cremation was chosen and graveside services are scheduled for 9 a.m., on Saturday morning, June 13, 2026 in the Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge.
