Ralph LaSalle

Ralph Louis LaSalle, age 85, died August 7, 2025, in Omaha. Ralph was born November 10, 1939, to Elden and Wilma (Brooks) LaSalle in rural Norton County, Kansas. Ralph was raised there, on the farm.

He attended school in Clayton and Norcatur, Kansas and graduated from High School in 1957.

He married Phyllis Ann Roe on July 28, 1957, and enlisted in the United States Air Force in October in 1957. He served eighteen months in England and finished his service in Clovis, New Mexico. He was discharged from the service in1963.

After his time in the Air Force, he and Phyllis returned to Norton, Kansas. After working in some service jobs, he started his career in law enforcement in 1965. After a short stint with the local police department, he attended the Kansas Highway Patrol Academy. Upon completion, he was stationed in Concordia, Kansas. Transferring to Oberlin in 1971. He served twenty-six years and retired from the Kansas Highway Patrol in 1992.

Ralph was an avid reader and enjoyed walking every day. He also enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in all sporting events.

He is survived by his wife of the home, Phyllis (Roe) LaSalle; children: daughter: Kim (LaSalle) and Kenneth Carter of Norton, KS; son: Roger and Jennifer LaSalle of Garden City, KS; daughter: Lisa (LaSalle) and Jamie Fortin of Oberlin, KS; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his parents Elden and Wilma LaSalle, an infant brother Roger and infant son, Kevin Louis LaSalle.

Memorial service will be on Monday, August 18, 2025 at Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home at 2:00PM. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00PM on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made out to the Oberlin City Library. Condolences can be left at www.plumergobber.com.
