City to consider pool fees, parking fines

The agenda includes several ceremonial items, with proclamations designating April as Child Abuse Prevention Month, April 6–12 as Library Week, and April 13–19 as Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. A public hearing will be held regarding a preliminary plat for the proposed Walters First Addition subdivision, followed by an update and discussion on the city’s ongoing work to revise its comprehensive plan, zoning, and subdivision regulations.
Among consent items, the council will consider a resolution to raise parking fines from $25 to $50, approve a lease with Frenchman Valley Cooperative for airport property use, and review multiple applications from Great Plains Communications to install underground fiber optic infrastructure at various city locations. On the regular agenda, members will vote on an agreement with Miller & Associates for engineering and design services related to the recreation sports plex subdivision and receive an update on the broader sports complex project, including review of the proposed design for the PFC Gerald L. Walters Sports Complex. Additional discussion topics include potential new revenue sources and the development of a formal donation policy.
Several ordinances are scheduled for second or final readings, including measures to raise the city’s purchasing limit to $50,000, authorize conveyance of city-owned property to economic development organizations, and set management and fee structures for the McCook Aquatic Park. The Council will also consider repealing Ordinance No. 2024-3079, which previously addressed unlicensed vehicles, as part of a broader update to the city’s general regulations. Another proposed ordinance would amend the animal code to allow the Red Willow County Court to order restitution in applicable cases. Members of the public are encouraged to attend or follow the meeting if they have interest in any of these matters.
