College OKs $5M tax levy, $62M budget
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — At its meeting Wednesday, the Mid-Plains Community College Board of Governors approved key financial actions, including a $5,061,615 property tax levy to fund the 2024-25 budget and the adoption of a $61,984,583 total budget.
The decisions followed public hearings where no opposition or comments were received from attendees.
The first hearing addressed an increase in the 2024 property tax requirement over the previous year, while the second hearing focused on the college’s 2024-25 budget. Both concluded without any public feedback.
In addition to approving the property tax levy and budget, the board took the following financial actions:
• Approved carrying forward $18,111,847.43 in unused budget authority to 2025-26.Approved payment of $1,561,607.78 in August bills.
• Approved a three-year contract with Microsoft for software licensing, costing $57,799.80 per year, for a total of $173,399.40.Other Highlights
The board also introduced new NPCC coaches, discussed campus updates from student trustees, and heard reports from MPCC President Ryan Purdy and other cabinet members.
The meeting adjourned at 7:47 p.m., with the next session scheduled for Oct. 23 at McCook Community College.
