Wolves roar past Roughrider girls; Eagles also reach 2-0

Maywood-Hayes Center 62, Southwest 51
MAYWOOD, Neb. — Junior Kesli Cox lit up the nets for 30 points to lift the Wolves past a feisty Southwest team Saturday afternoon.
Cox shot an awesome 67 percent outside the arc where she made eight of her 12 three-point tries.
Freshman Caylie Softley was really not quiet considering she added another 12 clutch points on five of six two-point shooting.
Junior Reagan Stengel and sophomore Karissa Stengel added six points each.
Sophomore Kyra Nelms netted 17 points to lead 1-1 Southwest following 22 vs. Medicine Valley in a win on Thursday.
Senior Bryn Lampe delivered 11 points and junior Atleigh Nelms sent 10 through the home nets.
Dundy County-Stratton 55, Creek Valley 22
BENKELMAN, Neb. — The Dundy County-Stratton girls made a great season debut but no other details have been obtained.
Arapahoe 52, Lawrence-Nelson 27
LAWRENCE, Neb. — Freshman Clara Hilker's 18 points on eight-for-13 field goals ignited the Warrior road win while senior Berkley Warner scored 14 Saturday afternoon.
Warner swiped nine steals to keep the Warriors' defense in control. Both Hilker and Warner pulled down six rebounds apiece.
Junior Cadence Carpenter collected eight rebounds as Arapahoe evened its record at 1-1.

Southern Valley 49, Elm Creek 27
ELM CREEK, Neb. — Senior Ann Bose scored 18 points and smothering Eagle defense held Elm Creek to 17% field-goal shooting Friday evening.
Junior Adi Hunt broke through for 15 more points to go with a team-best six steals.
Actually, Bose also swiped six basketballs from Buffaloes besides six rebounds.
Junior Brecklyn Hammond netted nine points, Brynn Baily six and sophomore Tori Bose one point.
Paxton 55, Medicine Valley 47
CURTIS, Neb. — Abigail Nicholson hit five of six three-point tries and her 23 points were enough to offset a game-high 26 points from Medicine Valley senior Stella Heapy.
Junior Remmi Stout added 10 points for the 0-2 Raiders, who still hit just 21 percent of their two-point tries (13 for 61).
Senior Sienna Houghtelling added eight points and seven rebounds.
Heavy hit four three-pointers to go with two blocked shots, eight rebounds and four steals.
Stout also pulled down eight boards.
May-Hay 54. Wallace 30
WALLACE, Neb. — Junior Kesli Cox's 15 points paced a balanced 2-0 Maywood-Hayes Center attack with sophomore Karissa Stengel scoring 13 for coach Kim Stengel's team.
Cox connected on four three-pointers finishing 44 percent beyond the arc at four-for-nine.
Junior Kassidy Hatfield and junior Blayklee Farr added six points apiece.
Cambridge 39, Wauneta-Palisade 34
CAMBRIDGE, Neb. — The Cambridge Trojans overcame a 15-7 Broncos lead through one quarter as they outscored Wauneta-Palisade 24-15 through those final two periods.
Sophomore Mallory Springer put in a game-high 16 points with senior Brylyn Springer tossing in 10.
Senior Bailee Ahlmeyer crashed the glass for 12 rebounds though Mallory also snagged nine.
The Trojans reached 2-0 despite senior GraCee Goings' 14 points and classmate Payton Cox's 14 rebounds.
Cox added 11 points but the Broncos only hit 13 of 50 two-point shots.
Wauneta-Palisade (1-1) was coming off a 49-45 win over Wallace Thursday night.
Decatur Community 35, Rawlins County 32
COLBY, Kan. — An 8-2 fourth quarter pushed the Decatur Community Red Devils past host Rawlins County Friday evening at the Colby Events Center.
Junior Madisyn Ketterl's 11 points led the Devils, though sophomore Brylee Minnick netted nine and senior Kamryn Oien seven. Ketterl shot 80 from two-point range at four for five and 75 percent outside the arc at three for four.
Minnick controlled a team-best eight rebounds and junior Jenna Fortin delivered three assists.
No Rawlins County stat leaders were obtaine
