Church establishes flood victim aid fund

Friday, June 2, 2023

STRATTON, Neb. — “What can we do to help the flooding victims?” was the main topic of discussion in the small towns hit by recent floods.  On Sunday, the Christian Union Church (CUC) in Stratton was no exception.

Church members expressed their deep-felt concern to cover the immediate needs of flood victims and then to still be able to meet the long-term requirements necessary to replace the household supplies when permanent homes are established.

A benevolence fund for Stratton flood victims has been established at the CUC.  Funds can be sent to Pastor Larry Unruh by calling 308-520-4466.

The church originally planned to collect household items but later found out clothing and other items could be left at the city library.  Shawn Hanes (38-830-1202) is coordinating the city project.

Stratton held a community-wide clean-up on Wednesday.
