Mid-Plains governors approve salaries for certain employees, president

OGALLALA, Neb. — Mid-Plains Community College governors approved a 4.25% increase for staff and a 5% increase for the college president at a regular meeting Wednesday in Ogallala.

The board also approved the Business program review for submission to the Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education, the hiring of a full-time commercial drivers license instructor, and a $636,050 annual payment to the Nebraska Community College Insurance Trust.

The 4.25% increase for staff not covered by negotiated agreements brings their pay into line with those under negotiated compensation.

College President Ryan Purdy will receive a salary increase of 5% and a 3% contribution to his 457B retirement plan under a new three-year contract.

Last year, Purdy’s salary was increased 4.5% to $260,000 for the 2021-22 contract year.

Wednesday’s action brings his salary to $273,000 for 2023-26.

The June meeting was canceled, so the next meeting will be 6:30 p.m. July 19 in McCook.
