Bison getting set to tip off busy hoops schedule

McCOOK, Neb. — Both McCook High basketball teams were one win from the Class B state tournament in 2022 and start a new quest Friday night.

The Bison host Chase County for their first of seven girls-boys home doubleheaders through January.

Varsity first tip is 6 p.m at the MHS gymnasium.

A fast break filled with other big home dates for Bison basketball fans:

Friday, Dec. 16: Kearney Catholic arrives to challenge the Bison starting at 6 p.m.

Those K.C. boys finished 27-2 a year ago, taking third at the C-1 state tourney. The Stars girls were 14-10.

Tuesday, Jan. 3: McCook starts 2023 with two homes against Broken Bow starting at 5:30 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 14: The Minden Whippets invade for girls action then a rematch of last year’s upset win for those Whippet boys.

Friday, Jan. 20: Nearby rival North Platte drops in to play a 6 p.m. doubleheader. The Bison owe those N.P. boys a defeat.

Saturday, Feb. 4: The Ainsworth Bulldogs visit to play an afternoon pair (3:30 p.m.) following Southwest Conference tournament play.

Cozad makes two visits with the girls’ game at McCook Dec. 13 and boys on Feb. 16.
