McCOOK, Neb. — Georgia J. “Jody” Kirby, age 87, passed away at Community Hospital of McCook on Nov. 25, 2022.

She was born to Perry and Arietta (Hughes)Doak in the family sod house at St. Francis, Kan., on Sept. 12, 1935.

Jody enjoyed carpentry and playing softball for Hillcrest Nursing Home on the McCook City softball league, painting pictures, word puzzles and gardening. She loved to make quilts, too many to count, if she knew you, you probably would have one. She raffled several for Doak Contruction Fast Pitch softball team. Jody also enjoyed all the time spent with family and friends on Facebook.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Arietta; infant daughter, Laurese Kirby; grandchildren, Lacey Brunwick, Harold “Chip” Wright, and Michael Wright; great-grandchildren, Jill Wright; great-great-grandchild, Nicholas Cook; son-in-law, Robert “Bob” Wright; brother, Wayne Doak; sister: Patricia Doak Norton; and brother-in-law, Rodney Mustard.

Jody is survived by her son, Randy (Cathy) Dean of Indianola; daughters, Reta Dean Cooper of Spartanburg, S.C., Laurel “ Lauri” Wright of Pueblo, Colo., Larena “Larri” (Bill) Follis of Coffeyville, Kan., Paul Follis of Coffeyville, Shannon (Curt) Van Pelt of Winfield, Kan.; Lisa (Randall) Kisling of Dyersburg, Tenn.; Sherry Cruse of Urania, La.; her best friend, Bella Brunswick; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ed (Francis) Doak of Alva, Okla., Joann (Dale) Pinkston of Glencoe, Okla., Janet (Stan) Lawver of Bloomington, Neb., Blanche Mustard of Alva, Okla.; and Elza (LeAnn) Doak of McCook.
