McCook Unified bowlers roll to North Platte tourney title
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — McCook High’s Unified Bowling team traveled to the North Platte Invite on Saturday competing against teams from North Platte, South Platte, Alliance, Ogallala, Scottsbluff, and Kearney.
Teams were seeded in a two bracket tournament based on a three game total pin fall.
McCook 1 featuring Caleb Shaw, Conner Snyder, and Nathaniel Miller received the second seed with a 468.
McCook 2 of Allen Holliday, Reigan Bethell, Laci Stewart, and Brittni Kinne recorded a 349 for their three-game set also placing them in the top division as the seventh seed.
McCook’s third team of McKayla Hixon, Deacon Kinne, and Halee Maris knocked down a total of 220 pins giving them a 23rd placed seeding out of the 32 teams.
In tournament play, McCook 3 bested Scottsbluff 2 in 2 games 94 - 53 and 71 - 65 and then fell to Kearney 2 the top seed in their tournament in 2 games 66 - 102 and 69 - 80.
McCook 2 faced a tough Kearney 3 team in the first round winning 140 - 111, and 96 - 77.
Unfortunately, they faced their teammates McCook 1 in the quarterfinals falling 107 - 167 and 100- 155.
McCook 1 bested South Platte 2 in the opening round 123 - 120 and 126 - 74, In the next round they beat their teammates Holliday, Bethell, Kinne, and Stewart 167 - 107 and 156 - 100.
In semifinal action ,McCook won against North Platte 1 153 - 110 and 176 - 116.
The championship match was an exciting won tith Shaw, Snyder, and Miller coming away with the win bestin Alliance in 3 games 157 - 118, 118 - 123, and 121 - 120.
“That final match had me on the edge of my seat. It was a fantastic day and an even better finish,” McCook coach Lynn Kinne commented. “I am so proud of how everyone played.”
