Bison senior gets second, relay runs to best at state

Friday, May 20, 2022
McCook senior Emma Dutton (above) started fast and strong Wednesday when she won Wednesday’s 100-meter hurdles prelimary heat at Omaha Burke Stadium. Emma delivered an even greater performance during the even more challenging 300-meter hurdles. She ran her fastest ever in Wednesday’s 300-prelims at 46.25 seconds. Dutton didn’t slow down much in the finals on Thursday despite temperatures topping 90 degrees. She ran the 300 again and finished in 46.61 seconds, second behind only champion Katelynn Gubbels from Arlington. Emma also qualified in the 200 meters and 400-relay. She makes a final smooth handoff connection with classmate Ainsley Taylor (below) during that 400-relay race Thursday afternoon.
