Ted Dishman

Dec. 4, 1974 - April 15, 2022

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Ted Dishman, age 47, of Salt Lake City, passed away April 15, 2022, in Salt Lake City.

Teddy Lee Dishman was born in Sargent, Neb., on Dec. 4, 1974, to Joe G. and Collene (Jensen) Dishman. In 1986, Ted was baptized into the Catholic Church while living in Sargent. He attended grade school in Sargent prior to moving to McCook with his family; Ted attended junior high and high school in McCook. Ted moved to Colorado and then Utah, where he lived for 18 years.

Ted was always mechanically talented. At the age of three, he began noticing how things worked and would continue to work with his hands, building and repairing things for all of his life. When the family lived in Sargent, Ted enjoyed playing baseball and loved the water; it didn’t matter if it was a pool or the lake. As a teenager, he loved skateboarding, racing remote-control cars and received several ribbons and trophies.

Ted loved hanging out with friends. He never knew a stranger. It did not matter who you were, he would carry on a conversation with anyone. He had a hearty laugh and always had a smile on his face. He was funny, kind, and giving. He could always be found doing something with friends or fixing stuff.

Ted was preceded in death by his dad, Joe Dishman; grandparents, Lee and Nellie Dishman and Ted and Alberta Jensen; as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Survivors include his mom, Collene Murphy and his bonus dad, Murph; daughter, Natalie; brother, David and wife, Karen of North Carolina; brother, Bruce and wife, Carrie of Kansas; brother, TJ and wife, Cathy of Callaway, Neb.; sister, Traci and his nieces, Tonye of McCook; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; close friends, Neil, Kevin “Wally” and Ben; and bonus sister, Jerri Kay from California.

Cremation was chosen and memorial services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook with Pastor Lana Day officiating.  Inurnment will follow services in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
