Street, highway work begins
City, state road crews plan crack-sealing work
McCook, Neb. Street and highway work is planned throughout the area in coming days.
The Nebraska Department of Roads plans to begin a crack-sealing project south of McCook Wednesday on U.S. 83 from the Kansas State Line north to reference post 14.
The work is expected to take 14 days.
A similar project is planned on U.S. 6 from reference post 43 to 50 from Wauneta to Hamlet. That project is expected to take 10 days.
Traffic will be maintained with a pilot car and flaggers.
Crack sealing is the process of cleaning and filling open joints and cracks in the surface with sealant to prevent the entry of moisture and debris.
Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and put phones down.
The City of McCook will begin crack sealing various streets in the community on Monday, March 28. It should take two to three days to complete, weather permitting. The contractor is B and H Paving of Scott City, Kan.
McCook citizens are asked to remove any vehicles that are parked on the following streets beginning Monday morning, so the project can be completed:
Norris Avenue from O Street to Marsh Avenue
West M Street from the alley between West 2nd and West 3rd to West 5th Street
West N Street from Norris Avenue to West 1st Street and from the alley between West 2nd and West 3rd to West 3rd Street
West H Street from Norris Avenue to the alley between West 1st and Norris Avenue
East F Street from East 11th to Gemini Court
East I Street from Norris Avenue to the alley between East 1st and East 2nd
East J Street from Norris Avenue to the alley between East 1st and East 2nd
East M Street from Seminole to East 1st Street
East N Street from East O Street to Norris Avenue
East O Street from Norris Avenue to Park Avenue
East 1st Street from East H Street to East M Street
Parkway Drive
Centennial Drive
Airport Road from East B Street to East H Street
East 11th Street from East B Street to East J Street
Once the crack sealing has been completed on a street, the street will be open for normal use.
