MEDC wins housing study grant
LINCOLN, Neb. — The McCook Economic Development Corp. was among four nonprofits to recently receive a Housing Study Grant from the Nebraska Investment Finance Authority.
The MEDC received $5,760 in the grant and will provide $12,240 in matching funds to pay Hanna:Keelan to update its 2013 local community housing study.
"We know we need housing and this study should help us identify where the greatest demand is,” said MEDC Executive Director Andy Long. It’s important information for developers and builders to know and will help overcome some of the complicated issues Nebraska communities are facing, he said.
NIFA offers the grants to stimulate ideas for comprehensive development plans encompassing housing, community and economic development opportunities in Nebraska.
Other recipients in this round of grants included Ashland Area Economic Development Corp., InCommon Community Development in Omaha and Western Nebraska Economic Development.
