WAUNETA, Neb. — Sophomore Peyton Cox’s 21 points powered the Wauneta-Palisade girls to a feisty 66-60 win over Wallace Thursday evening.

Peyton got plenty of support from junior Cali Cox (14 points) and senior Alexa Sandman (13) to take this season opener.

“It was a good win to start the season,” coach Matt Cox commented. “A little sloppy at times, but we’ll take it.”

Sophomore Dajana Garrison’s 14 points led Wallace while senior Mariah Gardner added 13 and sophomore Kenyl Flaming nine.

Junior Karlie Finley slipped in seven points.

The Wildcats recovered for a 51-24 win in their boys’ opener against W-P.

Senor Kolton Hager scored 17 points, junior Trey Robertson 10, senoir Camden McConnell nine and senior Alec Messersmith eight.

No individual stats were obtained for Wauneta-Palisade.
