TRENTON, Neb. — The Maywood-Hayes Center Wolves ripped through just enough holes in Hitchcock County’s defense to finish a 3-0 sweep on Tuesday.

Olivia Hansen drilled 12 kills as M-HC earned its 11th in 12 matches this season 25-16, 25-15 and 25-14.

Lexi Wood splintered another nine shots past the Falcons while teammate Kyla Patel clobbered five kills.

“Hitchcock County played pretty good defense, but we adjusted and made some big plays,” coach Kory Rohde observed. “Plus we served real well.”

Setter Kiley Hejtmanek served 19 points and three aces to go with her 20 assists.

Neither Wood (13 for 13) nor Aniah Seiler (12 for 12) missed a serve en route to three more aces.

Wood added eight assists for the Wolves, who won Saturday’s Hitchcock County Invitational.

MH-C swept through the Falcons, Alma Cardinals and Axtell Cardinals which means they’ve won seven straight since a lone loss to Southwest on September 2.

On Tuesday, the Falcons slipped to 6-6 although seniors Riley Bortner and Lindsey Rippen both made 15 digs.

Bortner blasted seven kills while sophomore Madison Gestenslager smashed eight.

Bortner also served three aces.

Hitchcock County will play Medicine Valley today in Curtis.

Medicine Valley won a 16-14 finale to finish Monday’s five-set thriller over Wallace Wildcats.

Senior Kaylyn Roblee led the Raiders (4-3) with 17 digs, 16 kills and five ace serves.

Sophomore Stella Heapy totaled 12 kills and 14 digs. Junior Milla Farr hustled for 12 digs besides killing seven.

Wallace (4-5) featured junior Karlie Finley’s 12 kills and 10 from sophomore Kendyl Flaming. The Wildcats scored two dominant wins 25-10, 25-11 but couldn’t take this match.

Arapahoe sweeps

Junior Emerson Swanson’s 10 kills and 11 digs helped Arapahoe dust the Cozad Haymakers 25-19, 25-17 on Tuesday.

Sophomore Berkley Warner served three aces and Gentry Warner dished out 15 assists for the Warriors (2-9), who shook off an earlier loss to Alma.

The Cozad Haymakers tumbled to 0-11 this season.
