CAMBRIDGE, Neb. ó Paul D. ten Bensel, age 92, of Cambridge, passed away at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Aug. 18, 2021.
He was born on the family farm south of Cambridge on Oct. 18, 1928, to Henry J. and Millie (Thompson) ten Bensel. He attended and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1946. Paul was drafted in the United States Army and served with 8th Army Corps of Engineers in the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged.
Paul was united in marriage to Joeann Forrester in North Platte, Neb., on Aug. 8, 1952. She preceded him in death on June 2, 2011.
Paulís life was dedicated to farming. He raised cattle, broke and trained horses for many family members and friends. He enjoyed fishing and a good fish dinner. He would take the kids to fish at the Harry Strunk Lake and in the creek in Cambridge. Paul was a life member of the Wilsonville Baptist-Christian Church. He was a ham radio operator and played the trombone and the harmonica as his hobbies. He enjoyed attending his grandchildrenís events when possible. He was always willing to help around at the stock pens at the Furnas County Fair. Paul traveled to see family and vacations in Oregon, Missouri, and Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Millie; wife, Joeann; four brothers, Richard, Earnest, Roy and Carl; three sisters, Golda ten Bensel, Ethel Yeager and Ruth Riley.
Paul is survived by his three daughters, Jane (Jimmy D.) Randoll of North Platte, Neb., Lori (Mike) Unger of North Platte, Neb., and Julie (Rick) Schram of Newcastle, Neb.; two sons, Steve (Michelle) ten Bensel of Minden, Neb., and Eric (Leah) ten Bensel of Cambridge; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, June Palmer of Wilsonville and Joyce (Kenneth) Ross of Fort Worth, Texas.
Funeral services will be at the Wilsonville Baptist Christian Church in Wilsonville, Neb., on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021, at 11 a.m., with Keith Theobald officiating. A 2 p.m. graveside service will be in the Fairview Cemetery of Cambridge.
Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 23, 2021, at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
