Arbor Day tribute
Dozens gathered in McCook’s Memorial Park Cemetery Thursday to pay tribute to late County Judge Cloyd Clark by planting a bur oak from the unique Burr Oak Canyon in Hitchcock County. “Cloyd always made me feel as though he appreciated what I did and the world needed more of it. He did that with everyone,” said Bruce Hoffman of the city tree board, arborist and owner of the Common Scents Nursery in McCook. “It was a very wonderful, feel-good activity, lots of hugging, smiling and laughter. The cemetery crew had the area looking pristine,” Hoffman said. Among those taking part, from left, were Chrissy Land, Western Nebraska Community Forrester, Paul Clark (Cloyd’s son) and Bruce Hoffman.
