Wednesday, April 21, 2021

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska (BCBSNE) and the YMCA of McCook (YMCA) are teaming up to encourage Nebraskans to stride toward better health and a stronger community during National Walk at Lunch (NW@L) Day.

The event will take place on Wednesday, April 28 at 12:15pm. The community is invited to meet at the YMCA of McCook to take part in a 30-minute walk. NW@L is free for anyone to attend.

NW@L Day is an annual event hosted by BCBSNE encouraging Nebraskans to walk for 30 minutes. BCBSNE will make a financial contribution to Special Olympics Nebraska on behalf of those who pledge to participate in NW@L Day: $20 for every school, company or other group and $1 for every individual who registers. Nebraskans can take the pledge at NebraskaBlue.com/Walk. Additionally, one participating school will win a $1,000 donation from BCBSNE for its physical education department. Simply register your school for NW@L Day to enter to win.

“It is a pleasure to partner with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska for National Walk at Lunch Day,” said Mitch Gross, CEO, YMCA of McCook. “It is our hope that this event spurs healthier and active lifestyles in our region by encouraging folks to walk 30 minutes a day. We invite businesses, schools, and the community in general to join us on April 28th.”
