Indians chasing EWC again at golf tourney

LAMAR, Colo. – The McCook Community College golf team shot an opening round 294 at the Lamar Community College tournament, but finished the day in second place, 10 strokes back of leader Eastern Wyoming.

“It was perfect weather at Lamar today and the course is in great condition for this time of year,” MCC coach Tyler Loop said. “The boys did a good job..”

KC Carlson (second-year sophomore, Delta, Colo.) shot a 71 on the afternoon, which is tied for third best among individuals after one round. The field is chasing Brendan Thomas of Eastern Wyoming who is six strokes in the lead having shot a six-under par 64 on the day.

Deniz Sari, sophomore (Koblenz, Germany) is one shot behind Carlson, shooting a 72 and sets alone in fifth place. Freshman Filip Lanc’, freshman, (Czech Republic) posted a four-over 74 and is tied for sixth place. Freshman Adam Durband (Heswall, England) is tied for 13th place with a Thursday round of 79. Kojie Santos, sophomore (Melbourne, Australia), shot an 83.
