McCOOK, Neb. — Red Willow County Commissioners accepted the lowest of three bids for commercial reappraisal services a bid that was slightly higher from two companies that wanted to provide grader blades.

Meeting Monday morning, commissioners approved a $70,000 bid from Central Plains Valuation LLC for commercial reappraisal services, with $125 per working hour for protest hearings.

Other bids were Top Appraisal Co. for $93,000 and $150 per hour for hearings, and a verbal quote of $121,040 from the county’s previous provider, Stanard Appraisal, with no bid for TERC hearings.

With NMC representative Brett Brown in attendance, commissioners accepted a bid from that company, which has a location in North Platte, for $29,962.45 for grader blades. A bid from Midwest Service and Sales of Schuyler, Neb., was turned down, despite being slightly lower, $29,636.35, with an option of $29,276.35 if all blades were delivered to McCook, rather than to county shops at Danbury and Bartley as well as McCook.

Grader blades are bid out approximately every two years.

Commissioners also voted 3-0 to provide information to NACO Benefit Services so a health insurance bid can be provided. Mike Bodin and Dennis Maggert of NACO discussed details of the application process, which includes providing the proposed rate increase from the county’s current provider.

The board went into executive session about 10:30 a.m. with Jail Administrator De Schilz, Sheriff Alan Kotschwar and County Attorney Paul Wood regarding personnel and security. No action was expected to be taken following the executive session.
