HOLDREGE, Neb. — Celebration of Life Services for Kori J. Ohlson will be Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021, at 11 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege with Pastor Daren Popple officiating. Following the funeral service, cremation will take place and a private family inurnment will be at a later date at the McCook Cemetery, McCook, Neb.
Due to health concerns, regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, current CDC and Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services guidelines for Faith-Based Services and Gatherings will be followed. Kori’s family sincerely encourages each person to make their decision whether to attend the funeral service and visitation, based on the best interest of your health, and that of your community. The funeral service will be live-streamed via the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home Facebook page.
Kori Jane Ohlson, 26 years of age, of Kearney, Neb., formerly of Holdrege, passed away on Monday, Feb. 8, 2021, at the Kearney Regional Medical Center. Kori was born on April 21, 1994, in McCook, Neb., to William “Bill” and Kimberly Ann (Hunsaker) Ohlson. She received her primary education from McCook Public Schools through the fifth grade and then attended Holdrege Public Schools, graduating Holdrege High School with the Class of 2012. She then pursued higher education at Hastings Central Community College in Hastings, Neb., and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in graphic design.
Because her passion in life was helping and caring for others, she excelled as a certified nursing assistant and was currently pursuing a degree in nursing. Kori was employed at Kearney Regional Medical Center as a Patient Care Tech, where she loved making a difference in the lives of the patients she worked with.
Kori adored her nieces and nephews and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She had a contagious smile and a heart of gold. Kori loved deeply and was loved even more. She will be missed dearly by many.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Kim Campbell in 2012; three grandfathers, Stanley Ohlson, Richard Burton and Dick Rima; and her great-grandparents, Warren Clarence “Clancy” and Velma Bales.
She leaves to celebrate her life her father, Bill Ohlson of Hastings; siblings, Kelsey Bailey and her husband, Jordan of Holdrege; Jessica Wallace and her fiancé, James Schmidt of Dodge City, Kan., Tyler Ohlson of Holdrege and David Campbell and his girlfriend, Tiana Kimberly of Lincoln, Neb.; her step-father, Mike Campbell of Holdrege; her boyfriend, Nick Sukraw of Kearney; faithful dog, Tucker; nieces and nephews, Wyatt Anderson, Jaci Bailey, Karsyn Bailey, McKenzye Thomas and Kayden Reynolds; grandma, Sue (Bales) Rima of McCook; grandpa, Rod Wachholtz of Derby, Kan.; along with many cousins, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
