McCOOK, Neb. — McCook High’s girls shot 100 percent from the foul line, but they needed more attempts from everywhere during their 65-24 loss to Class C-1 No. 3 Broken Bow Tuesday night.

The Indians unleashed defensive pressure which made it tough for McCook to get within scoring range.

Bow only allowed one first-quarter basket and — though sophomore Joy Rippen did hit one “triple” — only seven more points in a 34-9 first half.

The Indians (10-0) captured their ninth double-digit win this season.

Hastings Adams Central (8-4) remains the one team to finish within 10 points of coach Kelly Cooksley’s team.

The Bison (5-6) were hoping for better success following a solid 2-1 performance at last week’s Sidney Cabela’s Holiday Tournament.

They finished with a 59-38 win over Chase County that avenged an opening defeat on their home court Dec. 4.

Yet Bow’s balanced offensive attack perfectly complemented the defense.

No Indian tallied more than junior Kya Scott’s 12 points and senior Callie Staples putting in 11.

However, just about every Indian broke into the scoring column.

Senior Tiara Matson’s nine points paced the Bison, who were playing without junior point guard Peyton Doucet.

Matson made all four Bison free-throw attempts.

Doucet continues to recover from an ankle injury suffered during the Sidney tourney.

McCOOK (24) — Tiara Matson 9 points, Shawna Wilkinson 4, Joy Rippen 3, Natalie Roberts 3, Sierra Kotschwar 2, Tori Honn 2. Three-pointers: Matson, Rippen, Roberts. Rebound leaders: Wilkinson 5, Matson 4, Gracie Wiemers 3. Assists: Wilkinson, Kotschwar, Kennedy Walter. Steal: Roberts. Blocked shots: Kotschwar 2, Brittni Kinne.
