Roughrider spikers sweep home triangular

BARTLEY, Neb. — The Southwest Roughriders were unstoppable as they swept through Sutherland and Southern Valley during their volleyball home triangular Thursday night.

The Roughriders (5-3 record overall) romped past Southerland’s Sailors in their opening match.

Setter Bryn Lampe’s 14 assists helped set up the 15-kill combination of sophomore buddies Caylin Barnett and Bailey Truksa.

The Southern Valley-Southwest finale featured closer matches but Barnett;s 17 kills helped make the difference.

Both Barnett and Allison Rippe served five aces while Barnett also made 11 digs.

“ I thought the girls played great tonight. We eliminated some of the silly unforced errors we have had in the past.” coach Kim Barnett said. While we are still learning and growing as a team, we showed our potential tonight.
