Delmar Petersen

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. ó Delmar Petersen, 81, of North Platte, formerly of Curtis and the Indianola, Neb., areas, passed away on Aug. 25, 2020, at Great Plain Health.

He was born to Harry and Mae (Nutt) Petersen on March 19, 1939, at Farnam, Neb., and grew up on the family farm south of Curtis. He attended UNSA-Curtis, graduating in 1957.

He was united in marriage to Marilyn Appleyard on May 22, 1959. To this union three children were born: Dex, Kayleen, and Kimberly. In 1981, he was united in marriage to Clara (Dumler) Bear on Dec. 27, 1981, who had three children of her own: Brad, Kim and Brett. Delmar and Clara made their home on the family farm south of Curtis, where he also farmed and ranched and enjoyed working with his cattle. In 1995, Delmar and Clara moved from the family farm to Indianola. The couple moved to North Platte in December of 2016.

He was a current member of St. John Lutheran Church of rural McCook, a former member of the Congregational Church of Curtis, 4-H leader, School board member, and loved tractors, especially Aliss-Chalmers.

Delmar is survived by his wife, Clara; children, Dex (Janelle) Petersen of Aurora, Kayleen (Rod) Reppening of Bloomfield, Kimberly (Jerry) Cosby of Arkansas, Brad (Deb) Bear of North Platte, Kim (Jeff) Lenz of Maywood and Brett Bear of North Platte.

Those also left to cherish his memory are 15 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren; brother,Dallas (Joyce) Petersen of Curtis; and sister,Jo Werkmeister of North Platte.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020, at St. John Lutheran Church in Ash Creek. Viewing and book signing will be Friday, Aug. 28, 2020, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte. Services will be held following all current health directives regarding Covid-19. Burial will be at the St. John Cemetery in Ash Creek.
