McCOOK, Neb. — Gary Dean Premer, 79, of McCook, passed away at Hillcrest a Caring Center in McCook on Aug. 22, 2020.
Gary was born in McCook on June 18, 1941, to Elbert Earl and Dorothy Evelyn (Rosier) Premer. He attended school in Bartley, Neb., and was active in football, basketball, and many other activities. He graduated with the Class of 1959, of which he served as class president. He furthered his education at McCook Community College.
Gary married Beverly Ann Clapp on July 3, 1960, at the Christian Church in Bartley. He missed the draft of Vietnam because he was expecting his first born, Trevor. Gary worked for Montgomery Ward for a few years as a carpet and furniture salesman. He later started his career as a floor covering mechanic; he did this until the time of his retirement.
Gary coached all four of his children in baseball and softball, from T-ball clear through Legion ball. He loved fishing and playing cards. He also enjoyed watching sports in person or on the TV and really enjoyed the television program, Antique Roadshow.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Elbert and Dorothy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly of McCook; four children: Trevor Dean (Dee) Premer of McCook, Michael Lynn Premer of Lincoln, Neb., Jodi Lea (Scott) Frank of Forth Worth, Texas, and Gregg Eugene (Dina) Premer of Blair, Neb.; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous family members and friends.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Friday afternoon, Aug. 28, 2020, at the McCook Christian Church with Pastor Clark Bates officiating.
No viewing cremation was chosen. Inurnment will follow services in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
