The Cowboys’ Breck Horner (88) isn’t an easy stop for even a crowd of Eagles defenders during their McCook Football League game at Weiland Field Monday night. Horner broke free to a 35-yard touchdown which was his third score in two games.

McCOOK, Neb. — Big plays lit up Weiland Field, but nothing against that Cowboys Doomsday defense during the MFL’s first and only Monday night football of this 2020 season.

The Cowboys (2-0 record) still haven’t surrendered a point through two fifth-sixth grade contests.

They followed a 14-0 opening win over the Rams Friday night with an even more dominant 25-0 triumph over Eagles Monday evening.

Chiefs quarterback Quentin Terry (above) cuts upfield while the Raiders’ Tate Schaefer (50) pursues a possible tackle during seventh-eighth grade MFL action Monday night. Terry ran an amazing 99 yards for the key TD in his Chiefs’ 13-6 victory.

Mason Roblee ripped free for the opening 17-yard TD before Breck Horner took a “shortcut” to pigskin paradise when compared with his two scores last week.

Horner covered 45 and 70 yards for the two Cowboy touchdowns vs. those Rams.

On Monday, he rumbled “only” 35 yards to his third TD of this young season.

The Eagles stayed within 13-0 until one more dramatic play with one second remaining in this frist half.

They took the football at their own one-yard line following a strong defensive stop.

However, the Eagles attempted a pitch play and Cowboy defender Trento Raile intercepted that football.

Raile scored easily for the 19-0 halftime lead.

The Cowboys added one more score on Horner’s three-yard rumble.

Eagles will have to shake off a tough 2-0 start. They lost a 7-0 overtime opener to the Rams last week.

Both teams scored in Monday’s second game featuring seveventh-grader run.

Quentin Terry’s 99-yard touchdown run gave the Chiefs a 6-0 lead — something not even Patrick Mahomes has achieved among all his National Football League glory.

The 6-0 lead couldn’t hold up especially since Tristan Campbell covered 65 yards to a Raiders touchdown.

They also missed their PAT which left this contest tied 6-6 through three periods.

The Chiefs avoided OT when Mark Wolfe went two yards to their eventually winning score.

Terry found Miles Pollmann with a PAT pass, and the Chiefs soon celebrated their 13-6 victory.

Another MFL doubleheader arrives tonight featuring Eagles vs. Rams in the 6:30 p.m. opener. A Ravens-Chiefs rematch is set for 8 p.m.
