HOLBROOK, Neb. — Gail R. Warner, age 85, a resident of Holbrook, passed away at his home in Holbrook early Tuesday morning, July 21, 2020. He was born to Harry and Aril (Ankenman) Warner on Aug. 20, 1934, in Lebanon, Neb. He attended school in Lebanon and graduated in 1952. He was inducted into the United States Army in January of 1957 and was honorably discharged on Dec. 9, 1958.

Gail married Betty Heath on Jan. 6, 1962. To this union four sons were born: Mark, Tracy, Brad and Shane. Gail later remarried Laurie Magnus on Feb. 13, 1993, and from this marriage their son, Tyrea, was born.

Gail farmed in the Lebanon area for most of his life. He was employed for Durango Oil Co., Platte Valley Oil Co. and ATC Communications. He was a hard worker and through experience and persistence could accomplish most any task.

Gail was a lifetime member of the Lebanon VFW and he was very proud of his service to his country. He enjoyed working in his garden and loved making salsa for his family and friends. He loved his sports, which included Husker Football. In his younger years, he was an outstanding athlete with basketball and baseball being his favorites. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and just being outdoors. Gail was a jack of all trades, from restoring vehicles to remodeling homes. He truly enjoyed going on weekend trips. These included staying in motels, eating out and his favorite was sitting in his new truck “people watching” while Laurie shopped. Gail could be happy wherever he was and truly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his favorite saying, “It will settle in.”

Gail was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Aril; sons, Mark and Brad; sisters, Virginia Schroder and Ramona Chambers; brothers, Harry Dean, Neal, and Dale; brother-in-laws, Paul Schroder and Clyde Chambers; and sisters-in-law, Betty Warner and Sharon Warner.

Survivors include his wife, Laurie Magnus-Warner of Holbrook; sons, Tyrea Warner of Holbrook, Shane (Judy) Warner of McCook, Neb., and Tracy (Ana) Warner of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Danny Lou (Larry) Blackman of Bartley, Neb.; sisters-in-law, Frances Warner of Lebanon, Neb., Deb (Russ) Carlson of Arapahoe, Neb., Peggy Magnus and Brad Arrowsmith of Bassett, Neb., and Kathy (Tim) DeVries of Holbrook; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. (CT), Saturday morning, July 25, 2020, at Lockenour Jones Mortuary in Cambridge with Pastor James Moshier officiating.  A private family inurnment will take place at a later date. 

No viewing or visitation. Memorials are suggested to the DaVita McCook Dialysis Center in Gail’s memory.
