McCOOK, Neb. — Ryan Matthew Meyers, age 40, of McCook, passed away at his home on June 22, 2020. He was born on June 28, 1979, in McCook to Kent and Debra Jean (Koetter) Meyers. Ryan attended Republican Valley Schools and graduated in 1999. He continued his education getting an Associate of Arts degree from McCook Community College.

Ryan always enjoyed animals. He volunteered his time in high school working at the McCook Humane Society doing any job they needed done. Ryan worked at the Coppermill Steakhouse for a short time. He later went to work for Valmont Industries as a galvanizer/welder in the plant, working for over 17 1/2 years. He was also employed at Taco Johns for over eight years. When not working at his regular jobs, he would go to the family farm working cattle, moving irrigation pipe and many other chores.

Ryan, in his free time, enjoyed bowling, video games, Karaoke and pro wrestling. He would carry board games in his car to help pass time. He enjoyed all the superheroes, especially Superman. Ryan was a reliable, dependable and hardworking young man.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hugh and Helen Meyers and Richard and Marilyn Koetter; and an uncle, Darin Koetter.

Ryan is survived by his mother, Debra Meyers of McCook; father, Kent Meyers of McCook; sister, Erin and husband, Brent Ruppert of Curtis; three brothers, Jason and wife, Staci Meyers of McCook, Jeremy and wife, Bambi Meyers of Indianola and Derek and wife, Natalie Meyers of Indianola; seven nieces and nephews, Jaci Meyers, Wyatt Meyers, Darin Meyers, Eliza Meyers, Brekyn Ruppert, Bryer Ruppert and Weston Ruppert; many cousins and host of friends.

Friends may stop by and sign the memorial book for Ryan on Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The casket will not be open.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at 10 a.m., at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bruce Lester officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial be left in Ryan’s name to the McCook Humane Society. Friends may leave online condolences at herrmannfh.com.
