Willian Dean “Bill” Hannah

CAMBRIDGE, Neb. — Willian Dean “Bill” Hannah, age 78, of Cambridge, passed away at the Good Samaritan Society of Arapahoe on March 22, 2020.

He was born in Effingham, Ill., on Oct. 29, 1941, to Arthur C. and Dorothy (Gentry) Hannah. Bill attended and graduated from Cumberland County High School in Greenup, Ill. He served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps from Nov. 14, 1958, until he was honorably discharged on Feb. 19, 1963.

On Oct.16, 1971, he was united in marriage to Alberta Kruger in Casey, Ill. She preceded him in death on March 9, 2018. Bill and his family moved to Cambridge in 1982 to be close to family.

Bill was an over-the-road truck driver, spending 54 years on the road providing for his family. He finally retired from the road in 2016. Bill enjoyed following NASCAR and motorcycle sports. He was known for his quick wit and the ability to make up little ditties and dances for his grandchildren. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren lit up his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Dorothy; wife, Bert; grandson, Sean Michael Allen and brother, John Michael Hannah.

Bill is survived by his children, William L. and wife, Mayra Hannah of Sahuarita, Ariz.; Tina Morris of Bartley; Arthur Shane and Dianna Hanna of Cambridge; and Tanya and Greg Kapustka of Cambridge, 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister and brothers, Sandra Brooks of Farmer City, Ill.; Bryan Hannah of Beecher City, lll.; and Richard Hannah of Greenup, Ill.

Private family graveside inurnment services will be in Cambridge on Saturday, March 28, 2020. Military honors will be by the Marine Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left in Bill’s name at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary to either the Denver’s Children’s Hospital or the American Cancer Society. Friends may leave online condolences at lockenurfh.com.
