Chase sweeps away Yuma teams

IMPERIAL, Neb. — Seniors Bennett Bauerle and Kobe Clevenger teamed for 25 points in Chase County’s 52-50 win over reigining Colorado 2A state champ Yuma Tuesday night.

Bauerle’s 14 topped the 13-3 Longhorns, who held off a Yuma 20-point fourth quarter.

Junior Mason Nordhausen hit four triples for 12 points and Clevenger added 11.

Junior Clay Meeske slipped another nine points through the nets with sophomore Ryan Bernhardt scoring five.

Bauerle blocked two Indian shots as Yuma suffered only its second defeat this season (12-2).

Clevenger collected seven rebounds with senior Taylor Jablonski securing six.

Chase County's league champion girls trounced Yuma, 49-27, earlier on Tuesday.

The Indians reached 14-3 with a 30-11 second after Yuma only trailed 19-16 at intermission.

No indidvidual stats were obtained.
