HAYES CENTER, Neb. — The newest Doane College Tiger recruit showed why Dundy County-Stratton Tigers truly can attack from all angles Tuesday night.

Senior Michael Frederick scored 26 points with a variety of shots and his DC-S teammates provided more than enough support in a 70-54 RPAC tourney win over Wauneta-Palisade.

“Michael played post for me for awhile, but he’s going to be a guard in college,” coach Kris Feeland said while confirming Frederick signed with Doane College in Crete this week. “He’s done a great job of improving his outside shot.”

Frederick was only one of five Tigers who drilled three-point shots while stopping a determined Bronco foe.

Senior Damon Latta and sophomore Quade Myers both matched Frederick’s two triples.

Sophomore Nolan Burrell buried another three while senior post Keegan Krutsinger even stepped outside to show his curly-haired skills.

Senior Gunner Goings (left) was such a sure shot from three-point range that even he had to smile during Wauneta-Palisade’s RPAC quarterfinal game with Dundy County-Stratton Tuesday night at Hayes Center. Senior Ty Duvel moves in for a quick congrats.

“Keegan was a big part of what we did tonight,” Freeland confirmed about K.K.’s eight points and seven rebounds — five off the offensive glass.

The Tigers (13-2 record) needed every basket en route to earning an RPAC West Finals spot against powerhouse Paxton. Those teams will meet for the first time since Frederick’s freshman season at Trenton Friday evening.

However, Freeland praised his team’s defensive effort against the Broncos (8-9 overall).

Senior Tucker Boos did a great job of igniting the Broncos early, scoring seven points and keeping W-P within 19-15 through one period.

Senior Gunner Goings became a great second-half story, hitting numerous three-pointers especially from what seemed like his patented corner spot.

Super athletes like senior Ben Anderjaska are also a constant threat, but the Tigers maintained their double-digit lead after halftime.

“I thought (freshman) Corbin Horner did a great job as did Quade,” Freeland said.

Myers added 12 points, Latta 10 and senior Cade Lutz six.

Frederick also secured a team-high 16 rebounds while maintaining his inside presence.
